UZIS and CZ-DRG
The CKS DRG team participated in a meeting with experts from the Czech project DRG Restart from the Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the Czech Republic (ÚZIS).
Originally was in the Czech Republic, implemented the IR-DRG (International Refined - DRG) system, but in 2017 version 1.0 of the CZ-DRG system was launched. Currently, there is CZ-DRG version 4.0.
Interesting facts:
- CZ-DRG has about 40 institutional health care providers (out of approximately 150), which provide data of around 880,000 hospitalization cases (HC). These are compared with centralized data from insurance companies - this is important e.g. during data validation, where the comparison of reported details proceeds at the HC level.
- Cost data from the primary accounting are not calculated by the hospital into the secondary DRG accounting, but the costs to individual group of cost centres and group of costs are calculated separately by ÚZIS. ÚZIS collects the total costs for the entire health care of PÚZS (not only DRG relevant, but also outpatient, joint investigation and treatment components (SVaLZ), accounting books, and various other administrative calculation parameters of the hospitals) in order to calculate the costs of HC.
- ÚZIS has 3-4 professional assistants in each institutional health care provider.
- CZ-DRG introduced DRG groups for complex CVSP - Centers of highly specialized health care and DRG groups outside the complex CVSP, which are themselves the same group but with different values of cost weight. In this way, colleagues in the Czech Republic are able to refinance highly specialized healthcare more fairly than standardized healthcare.
We are looking forward to the upcoming cooperation with Czech coleagues on DRG cultivation.
